JEFF HEALEY
I am so sad to hear about Jeff Healey's passing. He was one the best guitar players I have ever seen and a very kind and supportive soul. I feel so blessed to have shared the stage with him on many occassions over the years. He was always so gracious and full of so much passion for what he did on and off the stage.
Back in 1990. I won the Much Music's National Guitar Wars Competition. Jeff Healey was one of the Judges and a big reason why I won the competition. He scored me the highest! Part of my prize was a chance to get to tour with the Jeff Healey Band.
Jeff would also greet you with a huge hug. I will always remember that about him.
In God Speed Jeff, you found the peace you so deserve. You will be missed by so many people around the world. You have touched us all so deeply and your human touch, will out live us all!
Blessings,
Bobby C

Gary McGowan
It brings me great sadness to annouce the passing of my ol friend and ex-manager Gary McGowan. Gary died on Saturday, March 8, 2008, from an heroic battle with Brain Cancer.
Gary was a driving force in the Edmonton Music Scene . He believed strongly in its talent, in the City and in the potential of taken local acts to the world stage.
I feel so blessed to have had the chance to work with him and to ride shotgun while he steered the wheel of my career from 1992 to 1996. He was the calm in my storm and I will miss him beyond words.

LONG JOHN BALDRY ...... THE LEGEND LIVES ON !

My good friend and concert promoter,
Andy Myers
, sent me this picture of Long John Baldry and myself, during a sold out show we performed at Barristers in Columbus , Ohio, USA, in July of 2004. This would be the last time I would ever share the stage with Long John Baldry. A little more than a year later, on July 21, 2005, John passed away at the Vancouver General Hospital, after becoming very ill from developing a serious chest infection.
Together, we tore it up that night. John was on the top of his game wowing people with his authentic brand of acoustic blues. I had great fun jamming with John and delivering guitar solos that made him smile. We were treated like royalty by Andy Myers and his people at Barristers. Andy made John feel so special and I know how good John felt after the show. Thanks Andy, you're a class act!
Rumor has it, Andy Myers shot a video of this performance in Columbus, Ohio that night, This could very well be the last live performace ever caught on video of Long John Baldry. What a treasure to have. I feel honored to have been there and to have shared the stage with such an amazing individual and loving soul.
Blessings,
Bobby C

FRIENDSHIP AND FAITH......

It brings me great sadness to say, my friend, Mr. Long John Baldry, at age 64, passed away at 10:30 PM, PST, on July 21, 2005, at the Vancouver General Hospital. John became very ill after developing a chest infection.
I feel so honored and grateful to have shared the stage and performed with Mr. Baldry. For the rest of my life, I will cherish the memories of playing guitar along side him and the conversations we shared along our drives together.
John was a big supporter of my work and on many occasions, during a live concert, he would promote and showcase my performance. One great memory I have of playing with Long John Baldry, was at the Ottawa Blues Festival for a captive audience of 10,000 strong. We had just finished a blistering version of "Don't Lay No Boogie Woogie On The King Of Rock 'N' Roll", when John turned the stage over to me for two songs. John did this simply to let me do my thing and get some exposure. He was a man with a gigantic heart. I will always love him for that.
On many long drives to shows in Canada and America, I would ask John to reminisce and tell me about the old days and all the great talent he hired along the way. To be there hearing him tell me what it was like and knowing he in fact was there personally to document these events, thrilled me beyond words.
I will miss him terribly. I will miss the anticipation of receiving a phone call late at night from John, asking me to join him on another tour.
My last great memory of John was at the Syracuse Blues Festival in New York. We arrived late at the show because of border crossing delays, I quickly went to the stage to make sure all the guitars and monitors were functioning properly. It was a big show. We were on just before Johnny Winter and Robert Cray. I was worried about John because we didn't have enough time to have a proper dinner. After getting the stage ready, I ran to get John some finger food. I was thinking to myself, how will he pull this set off hungry and exhausted from the long drive. I was by the stage waiting for us to go on and there he was, all 6 foot 7, strapped in a formed fitting, freshly pressed suit with his white fadora perched proudly on his head. The power of that image was amazing for me. We both walked on stage and John wowed a sold-out show with yet another standing ovation.
May your journey be quick and peaceful, and may God greet you with all the love and warmth you so deserve.....
Good-bye my friend.......

I was going through a box of stuff in my studio last week and came across this picture Long John Baldry drew of me. I thought it was hilarious! John has a great sense of humor and he is allot of fun to be around. He drew this picture of me back stage at a club called Bourbon Street, in Montreal. Thought you might get a charge out of it.

BOBBY & LONG JOHN BALDRY !
Bobby Cameron's Canadian and American dates with
Long John Baldry ,
were a huge success. The legend himself, Mr. Long John Baldry, worked the crowds with all his passion and grace. From the sold-out show at Healey's in Toronto, to the 20,000 strong that attended the Syracuse Blues Festival, John and Bobby sizzled.
After walking off the stage in Syracuse, NY, John and Bobby were preceded by an explosive set by
Johnny Winter.
Johnny then handed the stage over to another legend, Mr Robert Cray.
"Syracuse was a night to remember," comments Bobby. "I was so excited back stage that I held up my cell phone so my buddies in Cape Breton could hear Johnny Winter. I'm not looking forward to the phone bill. "
Bobby Cameron has toured in the past with Mr. Baldry. Bobby was LJB’s special guest, as well as his guitar slinger, for 10 sold-out shows across Eastern Canada. The Tour began in Toronto on July 6th, 2002 and finished in Halifax, NS on July 17th. Some of the highlights included an explosive set performed at the renowned Ottawa Blues Festival in front of a captive audience of 10,000. On the bill that day were Steve Earl and JJ Cale. Long John Baldry featured Bobby during his set. Bobby performed his own original numbers to rave reviews.

From EFMF to SALMON ARM....

The Bobby Cameron Band received standing ovations from the record crowds that flooded his shows during the Edmonton Folk Music Festival on August 7th, 2004 and then again at the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival on August 15th, 2004. From the opening blues toe-tapper entitled DELTA SHINE to the powerful lyrical message of TIES, the crowds rose to their feet to partake in nothing short of a Rocking Roll Celebration!
Bobby roamed amidst the crowds with his wireless guitar and climbed the sound system to stand high above and deliver a guitar solo in honor of the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn. When he jumped down 12 feet into the audience, never missing a note, his fans exploded into a roar of appreciation. Bobby then took them to a peaceful calm with a folk number called Everyday and Night, written about the searching he went through, in his early years, to try to reach his father emotionally.
In Bobby’s words, “The big thrill for me was meeting so many gracious people who appreciate my music. As a songwriter, you are always trying to reach and connect with the listener. You are scoping the crowd hoping someone is truly getting what you are tying to say. Without that connection, without that bond, there is no understanding between the artist and the audience. So, when I saw people rise to their feet during my concert, I felt that my job was complete and the energy that came back from the crowd was spiritual for me. I think that was the best show I ever had as an artist and I thank you all for that feeling.”
“The next magical moment was being greeted back stage by Brian Willoughby from The Strawbs with kind praises. I had the chance to play with the Strawbs earlier that day. Being on the same stage as
Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert and Brian Willoughby [The Strawbs] was electrifying. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than that, I looked over on the stage to see Martyn Joseph sitting in.

BUILDING THE BUZZ!

Hi Y'All......
I have been getting a lot of feedback on the new material. It feels good to be hearing from everyone and just knowing that it's moving someone out there. I look forward to working further with my producer John Capek and releasing this new CD some time in 2006.
I received reviews on my latest and past work from a kind lady named
SHANNON AMBROSE
Shannon goes out of her way to support "Canadian Talent". She has got a gift for writing and a love for music. I want to thank Shannon first off for just listening to my work and secondly, for putting her thoughts on page and going the extra mile in sending it to me.
I have said over and over, there is no career without "YOU". The people who buy the CDs, come to shows, call the radio request lines, and spread the word!
Many Thanks,
Bobby C
REVIEW: SHANNON AMBROSE,
ALBERTA CANADA
The shear natural talent this man possesses amazes me! He has such a marvelous gift for song writing, and I have found myself just listening to his phrasing over and over again. His musicianship is amazing, and I have been so impressed at the ease with which he plays any
type of style. Whether it be a country music sound, Celtic influences, more of a delta blues slide feel, or just great straight in your face rock guitar! I find I have always been more attracted to a male vocal, rather then a female (I think I can count on one hand the number of female vocalists that impress me) and though I can list a number of male vocalists
that I enjoy listening to, Bobby has a wonderful unique sound and range to his voice that I have been enjoying very much!
I wanted to touch on the three tracks Bobby has planned for his upcoming CD in 2006. First let me say that it only took hearing a couple bars of "Hearts Collide" and I knew I had
found something wonderful. The opening guitar licks hooked me and begged me to keep listening. His soft and melodic vocal was the second hook for me and of course, being a fan of a good pronounced guitar sound, that was all it took!
With "Beautiful" it was the lyrics that stood out for me. Such a heartfelt song of a realization of a love's mistakes and love hoping to find again. Musically, the soft sounds only add to the lyrics, as well as the soft understated guitar work Bobby gives, only adding to, rather then over powering the song.
Onto the song that stood out the most for me (not to say that the other 2 didn't mind you), Sueanna .. AMAZING guitar lick to open the song! It had me tapping my foot instantly. Love the bluesy feel of the entire song, and Bobby's vocal adds beautifully, only showing again the versatility of this man.
I enjoy seeing our own Canadian, homegrown talent stand out, and Bobby indeed deserves to shine. I would urge anyone to check out Bobby’s previous three CD’s (Bobby Cameron, Drowning On Dry Land, Emotional Drift), and to certainly mark 2006 on your calendars to check out his latest release. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!!
Keep it up Bobby,
You Rock Man!!!
Bobby Cameron – Emotional Drift
Released 2003
As if there were ever any doubt at the natural talent Bobby Cameron possesses, Emotional Drift would erase any!! What an amazing collection of songs that range in styles from a folksy groove (What Are We Here For) to a more country down home sound (Everyday And Night). Or, if it’s straight in your face blues guitar with Bobby's powerful, versatile vocals screaming right along with that singing axe that you're into .. then Fighter Who Believes and No Regrets are for you! Bobby moves VERY easily into a softer, mellow sound with the tracks Angel and the title track, Emotional Drift. Vocally, Bobby has a wonderful range, able to soothe the soul with soft melodic tones, or, step up and hit you square between the eyes with power and emotion. Lyrically, each song stands out as a master story in its own right. Whether its a tale of uncertainty in this life (What Are We Here For), a quiet yet heartfelt tribute to those effected by a horrendous act that changed a country forever (Emotional Drift), just every day occurrences, like getting your morning coffee (Coffee Cup) or changes and reactions as we travel down life's various different paths. Emotional Drift takes the listener on a journey down Bobby’s own life and loves, with finding inspiration for his writing in everything from love for his family, the love and “light” of his life, or life as the fantastic journey that it is. As a "guitar slinging - singer/song writing guy" Bobby deserves to be listed among the best in music. To paraphrase another gifted writer .. if music be the food of life .. play on Bobby .. play on!
Peace, Blues, and a Good Cup of Morning Coffee!

"I have had the great pleasure of Bobby joining me on tour both in 2002 and again in 2004. Both tours were great successes as Bobby's guitar playing was a highlight both times. Bobby is one of Canada's great young guitarists and his talent is equal to many of the world's great guitarists. Please make sure to catch Bobby whenever you can and I hope to have him join me on tour in the near future.
Best wishes "
